Poxy Luton Sundays. Came 11th for diddly squat, AQ being the hand of my tournament highs and lows. After winning 2 pissing and one KK v A3 contest/ts 3 tables out i got up to the safe hights of 40k. 412k in play so i reasoned i wanted (ideally) 70k for the final. With blinds @ 600 1200 i made mistake no.1
Only the blinds in the hand i raise it up to 3.6k to play with AQ sooooooooooted. Now tightish player wants to shove for 14k total. I deliberate as he is a pure rock and end up calling. Im up against the boots, marvellous.
I then win an all-in from the blinds war v Tracey Dell with AQ (i had her well covered) v 66 and get back up again. Then i lose a pot (that got bigger than it should have) with 10h9h on a 1074,Q board v Jim Mcbride. Must learn to control pot sizes much better when i dont have the nuts.

Then this hand, which im still unsure about. Holding AQspades i raise to 7k in the cutoff (blinds 1/2k my stack 28k before raise). Then loose/weak player shoves for all his chips. Should i pass?

He previously showed down KQs in a showdown. The problem is, THIS time, you can tell he likes his hand. You probe and ask him if he has a big pair, to which he instantly replies "not that big". I ended up thinking there was 40k to win and i only had 20 held back so called. He had QQ and perhaps it was a poor call. Thats what im thinking now.

Thailand in a couple of weeks although id much rather be at the Luton fessies, i reckon im running well enough to go deep if i had the chance. Moneys drying up now, lets hope the 24h VC crusade this evening goes well.

don't beat yourself up too much!

though it seems to me you have articulated that you had all the information you needed to pass both the AQ's

a) is a complete rock...you don't need to call the re-raise there

b)you've probed and got some info that he likes his hand.
You know as well as I do that 21k at 1-2k is playable around the Luton bubble when people really really tighten up and if you use first-in vigorish against the right player you can soon be back to 30k plus

If I may be blunt...the way some peeple play Luton final's so impatiently it is not the end of the world to reach a big one like this semi-short-stacked. I was surprised to see you think you needed 70k for the final...that isn't right and I think the thought may have made you impatient here.

The way the final panned out, it didnt make much difference hitting it with 30k or 100k

Blinds were so big - even your calling hand range was vast

Yes im missing the spring fest :(
In answer to the whole 70k for the final thing, i always like to have a lot of chips in the final. I feel like the insurance of having most people covered equips me well enough for the re-steals and big bad moves needed for chip generating.
M3, i think you and i know that the pocket two's hand was your key. Especially against him, he passed for only 5k more to him earlier.
Copperdrake, im in a 5* baby in Phuket, ill try and get hold of you out there and maybe we can go for a beer.

Agreed Alex, should of took my stand there.

£50 one rebuy tonight, busted just before final table,,, just cannot seem to cash when you dont turn up lol

Still, £700 profit from the cash game (which was about 2nd place money in the comp)
