What a week. Firstly, i think im going to give up weekday cash, the games are tough, the players are strong and its a lot like hard work. Instead ill just get into top condition for 24 hour Friday/Saturday sessions. Im consistently a big loser during the week, then i have a big weekend and make up for it, winning a small profit for the week. I have cut down on bluffing frequency, except the strong players that i know play too tight in the big pots, they will always be exploitable. Played a few cool hands this week, only the third one i think is avoidable, pretty sure its a big bad mistake to NOT get all my money in in all of them, but anyone got other thoughts? Will be using a HH convertor from now on.

Should i jam turn? Flat call river? nooo.....

Ok so won my seat to GUKPT Vic leg this week (thats 2/2 satellites chirp chirp :) ...not the grand final but still nice to get in cheap) and will be trying to go out of my way to get lots of chips this time.

Went to the Vic this week to meet my "boss" Jamie from BlueSQ and catch up. Bumbed into Flushy and Romanello who stopped me playing the cash game in favour of the bar. Robbo really is a properly nice bloke, shame the rest of the welsh boys had already buggered off. Flushy just went on and on about how much money the bastard has made :) The pair ended up putting 50% of me into the £500 event the next day and how could i protest.

Then chatted to Rob Garfield for a bit, nice bloke him. Know him from Luton but he pissed me off a while back and i never spoke to him till now. Saw a crazy pot in the big cash game involving Neel from Luton losing a lot. Rob had a bit of a cooler, flopping the second nut flush, Channing flopping the nuts, and losing 3k as quick as you like.

Im bored so ill give you a big tourie report. Plus its not very often i play a £500 tournie as i hate them tbh (not to mention they are miles out of my BR) but i enjoyed this one.

So after v little sleep and getting home @ 9am i got up in time to make the start of the comp. Nearly. Was 10 mins late and was greeted by a starting table with Lucy Rokache, Jonny Lodden and some french guy who reminds me of the french guy from Casino Royale. I was quite looking forward to seeing how bad_ip plays but i was a little bit let down tbh. I didnt see him bet/raise once. He called his stack off no joke. One hand that was funny was when aggy scandie raises, 2 ppl call inc JL from the BB. Flop comes A29rainbow. Scanie bets, JL calls. Turn A. Check, bet from Scandie, lodden calls. River, 4. Lodden checks, Scandie makes a biggish bet, Lodden folds. As he mucks i get flashed his hand. A9. Lucy Rokach is a total nutter at the table, like i didnt already know. But last night confirmed it, she massacred her stack playing too loose, too fast and displaying v.little of the skill with which she is renowned. Maybe she had an off day.

I played a couple of hands early doors, before getting caught with my pants down. I limped pre with Jc9c and saw a sexy little 8s10s3h flop with 2 others. M8tyboy in mp bets and i call, played him once before and didnt rate his ability tbh. Turn comes Kh, not a bad card for me as J10/Q10 hands might be scared now. He checks, i bet small. Turn is Ks for a board of 8s10s3hKhKs. This is a pretty magic card for me as now all 10s are scared witless of spade flush hopefully. He checks, i bet 2/3 pot and he goes into the long though process that sees him calling with 109. Meh.

So i nick one or two before limping utg with KdQd. I just wanted to get involved as Lucy was donating tbh. Flop comes Qc6d7d and i lead out, strong french bloke raises me, i jam, he calls. He has 67, i ding a diamond. Nothing either of us can do there i dont think. Then i get moved. Eek.

I play a big pot with who i think was Max Pescatori. I knocked him out which about the most impressive decision iv made in a poker comp in a while. Average stack is 8k, i have 10k, he has 7k. Blinds are 200/400 and he makes it 1200 in mp. I flat call on the button with 88. Flop comes Q56. He bets half his stack and i get to think. He really doesnt look at all comfortable and i set him in. Im puttin him on a missed AK tbh, but he turns over 77, inta-calling me after my dwell-push. I found that a bit interesting as he still had a bit back but i guess he was pot commited. No help for him and its bye bye Max. I then lost the critical hand where i raise and tag scandie rr me from the button. With 88 his bet stinks of AK and i make the call. He has AQ and hits. From there i never really got a sniff but survived until my only serious mistake of the comp, which of course proved to be my last. I thought i had 7k ish but had miscounted. So when Late raiser makes it 1600 i think with 77 from the BB i can jam here with a bit of fold equity. Sadly i only had 6k and he called after a bit of thought. Peeved because im sure for the little extra he would have passed K10, which hit and sent me packing. Meh. But it was fun and enjoyable. Plus Neil Channing has a ridiculously dry sense of humour, i found myself fighting to laugh with or at him as he has a highly strung mentality at times, whilst also being able to take the piss, a bit of a novelty tbh.

Football tomorrow, playing centre mid at last, looking to pwn the fat old buggers we will no doubt be pitted against. Probably going to be fisticuffs as they are reputed to be a dirty bunch. Happy Days.

Meh, i have to stop bluffing. Totally. I must lose so much every month through trying to get non-thinking opponents to fold. Thats the new objective, seriously cut down on bluffing frequency. Im not talking about standard small-ball bluffs, like 2 barreling and c/r cbets, im talking about those big mofo bluffs where you know the guy is blocker betting you and you find the heart to bet the pot. They still call. They always bloody call.

Benn playing the finest poker of my life in the last few days, really focused and solid. I lost 1 big pot to Martinelli last night, truly sick tbh. 88 v J9 on 8J6 board and he backdoor flushes. Only he can get in 200BB with that trash. BUT on a good note, it seems i have forgotten how to tilt. This is immense for me as i really was worried about my discipline a few weeks ago, i was lobbing the mouse about and dug out the computer reciept incase the mesh bought it.

So after playing 3 good strong sessions how have i done. Crap. Iv lost about $600. But iv been winning millions of sklansky bucks. Seriously iv compared my projected earnings graphs with after showdown results and its like the most inverted axis possible. So im having a break for a couple of days, nothing seriouys i just want to recharge.

I went out last night to my mate Rob's uni night out. ZOMG how can i do £180 on a student night, where its £2 a pint. I am including a trrruuuulllly ridiculous bet i had with some random @ the bar. I said i could get served 1st and he disagreed. I said i didnt know any of the staff but id take 3-1, bastardo took the bet. And he worked behind the bar, fker. So he tells me this afterwards and i was in my own Ram Vaswani/Phil Ivey golf coup. I decided eventually to pay up, but was unimpressed. ESP when the coont buggered off whilst i was on me tod. Guess im getting old and boring.

Paris coming up soon and then Swansea for the blonde bash, should be gd. Going to the Vic tomorrow to rail Flushy and see Jamie from blusq, might drag out Inside Edge editor Alun for a few beers, but i doubt it would remain just a few. And thats it, life's boring.

Sick session just ended. 9 hours on a Saturday is not my idea of fun. Really need to +wok on my warm-up time. 9-tabling tonight and played my usual abc tag for about 2 hours b4 going nuts and forgetting when i was bluffing or value betting. Worked out well though as i got some crazy action on some big hands that was totally unwarranted. I know its a bit naughty, but iv got into the habit of showing big river bluffs lately. I just have to show them and am pretty sure there's only a couple of regs on ipoker who notice them. Maxwell, Tursampe and aceee are about the only ppl im clashing with on a regular basis that i can NEVER stack.

Aceee in particular had my no totally tonight. I raise pre with QcJc $8 from the co, he calls from sb and bb comes for ride. Flop K102 avec 2 hearts. Checked to me, i bet biggish, acee min raises like a donk and im thinking poss K10/22/nfd. Turn 7h. He checks i bet 1/2 pot, he insta calls. River 3h putting 4 hrt board out there. I LOVE this card esp after he river checks, his c/r river stats are tiny, he nrly always bets for v on the end. I think for a bit then bet $85 into $180 pot. He times down b4 calling with 222. He then says i put in a vbet-lookalike bluff so i figure im gonna have to milk him a lot b4 trying shit v him again. Plenty of donks got me out of a $500 hope pretty quick tonight, for a little profit.

1st game of the season tomorrow and im looking forward to it, fitness levels are shite but ill try me best. Bit inspired after watching fab+ co destroy Derby today and particularly gutted i didnt put a fat bet on the boys at the start of the season when Henry left. SO glad they are performing well, once suns die out smaller stars shine more brightly.

On a totally diff tangent was watching Simon Cowell (sp?) and Jonathan Ross tonight on their respective tv shows. I love Rossy, seriously he's my idol and i think Simon is quality, pure brutal honesty should be more prevalent in our lives.

Also, masses of GL to DTD in their upcoming court case against the tyrants of the casino world, lets hope the judge gets his moral hat on and sends the opposition packing. Most likely though someone will slip someone a wod of large and that'll be the end of it, but gl nonetheless.

Off to the Vic sometime this week to rail a few ppl in the ept (oh to dream of playing in that) and also scope out the refurbishments. C'mon flushy, a win is needed!

Cannot do a thing right @ 2/4 @ the mo, getting really spanked tbh.

1/2 doing ok, slowly grinding, still confident of 5/10 by early next year but at the mo just ironing out big leaks.

Not really feeling gr8 about my game at the mo, 2/4 is pwning me and im not adapting v well to the different players. Also had another stab @ 5/10 on Strongbad account and got whacked twice by oppo's that outplayed my ass.

Im quite happy where i am with 1/2 @ the mo, the money is steady and the hits dont hurt too much. Was railing who i thought was ukgatsby go deep in wcoop the other night lol, wondered why he didnt respond when someone said everyone from blonde says gl, it was dubai lol.

Going Aviation club soon, be a nice relief. Also might be going halves with m3 in the wcoop me, 5mil gtd is a niiiiice prize pool.

BB post. Similar to every article Marc Goodwin has ever written lol.

Fuck fuck poker. Its been one of those nights. It actually really showed the importance of good bankroll management in the most clear example iv ever seen. Played from 6pm yesterday till 6am this morning. 8 tabling most of the time and watching a reasonable amount of tv. Was 12 tabling at one point. Mainly 1/2 with some 2/4. Will post some of the sicker hands on here later on. Somehow dropped $1.2k in about 1 hour, then peaked at 2.5k in the black, before settling in on a $700 loss. Over about 3k hands last night thats pretty rough variance. 1 player absolutely fked me. Nocticula is the best LAG i have come across on late night 1/2 tables and he utterly crushed me last night with in 3 big pots.

This 1st hand set the tone of the downswing. It coincided with losing a $600 pot on crypto that i was not best pleased about. I flop a set of sixes in an unraised pot and the board comes 862 with 2 spades. SB and Myself check and utg numpty overbets the pot of $16 making it $24 to go. I try the old flush draw representation and jam, he tanks it and calls off with 1010. Ding, intsant service.

Live players are (mostly) donkeys. Its official.

Been spending most of my time this week @ Luton, working on a tournament game that puts a lot of emphasis on reading players and making lots of moves 2 tables out. Im trying desperately to qualify for this league job before i go on hols and iv had some success (in spirit). I came 3rd on the £10 rookie night :) but unfortunately 17 rebuys dented my profit, ran into the 1 guy i told myself not to bluff and had brain flutulitus. Played cash after and lost a big pot with A10 on an A102c board to AcJc and running clubs. The guy was nice though so i didnt mind soooo much, unlike that hideous Russian that seems to be resident nowadays.

Last night played the £50+£50 job and finalled as big CL, donked off a few then got involved in a 120k pot (240 in play) 5 players out with the set v the overpair, i hate rivers. Then played juicycash where there were some of the biggest donkeys on the planet sitting in. 1st hand holding 53 in the BB its all checked round. Flop 358 i check, ep makes it 15, called in 4 spots, i make it a tonne, he sets me in, i dwell call as i fucking HATE bottom 2 pair in nlhe deep cash and realise that yes he deffo is shite enough to be overplaying a big overpair. I call, and i got the feeling the 8 on the turn didnt help my cause. Sure enough this twat wants to get in 150 BB with 99 in an 8 way pot postflop.

I reload and then had one tricky hand v the biggest tard on the planet ever. No im really not joking. He is utterly useless, by far and away the worst player i have ever seen. I was rr preflop with JJ and flat called (6 handed this is dubious but id max'd the card and couldnt withdraw anymore :( Flop comes 10 high all hearts. He bets £75 again i have no heats and Jim McShane to act after me. Bleugh. He is an utter gambler and i have £275 behind, what is the best course of action?
I anded up putting him on an ace with a heart and this combined with the only decent player on the table to act after me made me fold. Very weak in hindsight.

I then got involved in a 6 handed QQ v KK coup for the lot and couldnt release queens (for once). MAybe his 3-bet pre stinks too much but the way the hand played (i limp re-raise the BB from the SB) i cannot release.

Getting ready for a massive weekend of cash online, blockbusters tomorrow evening to get a few DVD's and then its (literally) set-mining 8 tables low stakes @ a time until someone msn's me about a fishy 5/10 game and i do my cockles.

Funny thing about this game, the deeper you get into it, the sicker it gets.

Meh. August has been utterly useless online, i have barely been paid in 2 weeks now. Luton cash games have given me about £1500 which is fortunate as iv probably done £600 in tournie buyins. September is going to be a really crucial month for me, hopefully i can keep up the hours whilst improving on a pitiful 0.29/BB rate. That should be comfortably at 4-5ish once i kill the anal loose nerve endings in my (left- lol, one for the biology ppl) cerebral hemishpere.

Also want to win a tournie or 2 at Luton this month, i am having real problems keeping focused when the 1st prize is so relatively small compared to the cash games but i want to get my confidence up before the Vic GUKPT where ill be having a shot. Really gonna go for it this month, i fancy Bali around xmas time but i want to go on a properly nice trip which means i need a spare £4k lying around. Objectives for the month

a) dramatically reduce my bluffing frequency (its already low but online its started to creep up recently), they simply are not getting through often enough.

b) play far more hands abc and get paid by level-up thinking players

c) win a 1/2 decent comp @ Luton

d) make £2k from online cash without a swing of more than £1500 or more.

Ok, poker over.

Just returned from Paris where i did the sightseeing stuff for a few days. I was actually quite impressed with the city, despite being given several warnings in advance that the place is a hole. Admittedly it smells a bit fruity in spots and the people can be utter arseholes but it was nowhere near as bad as some made out. The highlight for me was the Eiffel tower at night, ultimate cheese :)
Suzanne enjoyed it, but the hours she puts in during the day totally knackered me out. I simply cant be doing this up at 7, 9 hours walking bs. Im going back out in early august for a few of their comps at the Aviation club with some buddies, should be a giggle.
